There are two builders on our site, Sunnyboy- Silias and Solomon. Between the trips to cashbuild, Pembas building suppliers and the builders I have been absorbing invaluable knowledge about the building process. Kwathema on the other hand has been teaching me about aesthetics.
Everyday I notice something new, a fence built out of steel gas cannisters, a house clad in rolled out steel drums which have taken on various shades of pinks and greens.
The signage is so practical and beautiful, so clear to undrestand. There is such ingenuity in this place!
Everytime we are on site there is a new pile of sand, stone and cement, by the end of the day the piles are gone, the chessboard is hungry and growing.
Today the slab was made,( out of ready mix, cement and water ) we are letting it set over the weekend. On monday we want to start the tiling.
For our street pause project: 315 half clay bricks have been donated by Mrs. Pemba of Pemba Hardware, we have found a builder- Richard who will help us with the paving and tree planting, and Kibas likes our idea for upgrading the paving around his shop.
We are planning to begin on Monday.
I had a discussion with Anthony about the events... We were talking and thinking: what if we start the celebrations at the beer hall and end them at the chess park.( As a change, we reverse our usual route) What do you all think about that idea???
