Smart Casual

During the first week of construction at the Chess Park site, our team had to dig the foundation trench. Digging involves the use of a spade. To use a spade properly you need to hold it with both hands. One hand holds the handle and the other holds the shaft. If you are right handed, you use your right hand to hold the handle. Once you have a firm grip on the spade, both of your arms are constantly moving while digging with the spade. The ideal item of clothing is a sleeveless top, such as the type worn by James on Monday.
When I considered all the above factors, I was completely baffled as to why some team members, including the Builder, were wearing buttoned-up shirts on Monday.
On building sites it is common to see engineers, Quantity Surveyors and similar professionals wearing buttoned-up Shirts. They do this so that everyone on site knows that they are not part of the labour. I am not sure why some people are dressing this way at the Chess Park site.
If you are considering volunteering and joining our team at the Chess Park site, please humble yourself and dress appropriately.

Sifiso! Loved your blog, so ironic that you should comment
on the buttoned shirties when you yourself are the most
unusal speciment on site.
I have never seen a site worker dressed in black designer sports gear, leather riding boots and gloves..
It's as if you have been beamed in from a sci-fi film.
Stealthily you work away to who knows what is playing through
those earphones.Whether you are lifting bricks into the wheelbarrow
or digging into the earth, it is as if you are involved in some deep ritual which is beyond the rest us. You are the high priest of site works!
