I met Catherine at Fleet Steel in Strijdom Park to collect our C-section balustrade steel.
Together we loaded it into my trailer and transported it to Wits. This stuff weighs a ton and my car really battled to tow it but eventually I arrived to meet Guy and Robyn outside the workshop.
Robyn and I pleaded with Peter Kesley to store the steel in his workshop until Monday morning when we planned on drilling the steel sections. He wasn’t keen on the idea because he felt we were biting off more than we could chew with this project and was convinced that we wouldn’t be able to finish this kind of a project and felt that we were being too ambitious. It was only after a few minutes of intense grilling from Peter that he eventually realized that we had in fact thought this balustrade idea through. He then gave in and allowed us to use his workshop for storage.
Donning gloves we all offloaded the steel into the workshop.
We met with Christopher, Bernd and Hannah in the KwaThema room later in the afternoon. We presented our project to them as we had presented to the council just a few days earlier.
