On Monday I placed an order with Cashbuild (local building supplies store) for 800 bricks, 2 m of building sand and 10 bags of cement. I requested that the materials be delivered as early as possible on Thursday morning... I phoned on Wednesday just to make sure and was reassured that the materials will be on site at 9 am.
Thursday, 9 am arrives , no materails. 9:30 nada. I call, they tell me that the materials will be there in 30 min. We wait, .............. Frustrated, we go there ourselves and realize that someone at Cashbuild made a stuff up with our order. I expressed my frustration and told the staff that I will demand some compensation for our lost time. There was a lot of 'sorries' and I replied that you can't buy time with 'sorries'.
Eventually the materials arrived, I think it was about 12:00.
Later that day, Sipho one of the salesmen from Cashbuild, came to our site to see what we were doing. I took the opportunity then to explain the project and ask if he could arrange for some sort of discount, as we are running a bit over budget....
So today, Sipho calls and tells me that we can have 3m of crusher mix for free. This is wonderful news as the extra crusher mix I ordered for Ma Shobas Spaza, was eaten up by the greedy chessboard.
It will arrive tomorrow...
Initially I felt a bit silly for throwing a tantrum at Cashbuild, now I see that it paid off.
